Class responce #2

In class we pretended to be geologists and searched for oil in the earth. We read where oil is found, How its made, and how it is recovered. Oil comes from dead organisms that get buried and they turn into oil. Once we learned where oil comes from we looked at the conditions where oil reservoirs can be. There are three things that oil needs a source, a trap, and a reservoir. We took three maps that had all of theses things separated and we traced them on to one blank piece of paper. We saw where all three conditions overlap and guessed where the oil might be. We took a chop stick and a needle to act as a drill. We covered a tin container with aluminum that was filled with rocks and three cups of syrup but we didn't know where they where placed. We used our maps of the conditions to guess where the oil(syrup)was. We filled in a chart with information on what we did and in the end with the oil we found we made 49.2 million dollars.

Class Responce #1

In class we did a lab on the water cycle and how water travels. There where places like the ocean, and an aquifer. There where also rivers and reservoirs. On the first trial evaporation (spoons that carried water) moved around carrying water to the containers. The clouds (small plastic cups) went around taking water from the spoons until the filled up and they dropped it in the appropriate container. At the end of the trial there was no drastic change to the water levels in the containers. In the second trial we added human interactions on the water cycle. Three more containers where added and a large plastic cup was given to some people. They took water from the aquifer to the three new containers. At the end of this trial the water level in the aquifer was very low and the the water in the human containers was overflowing. We refilled the containers and added a blue dye to the human containers to represent containers. At the end of this trial every thing was polluted with blue dye some more than others. The ocean was not very polluted but the aquifer and every thing else was.

Poping fun

In science class we took vinegar, baking soda, test tubes, and a cork to see if we can use it to hit the window on the other side of the class room. We put the vinegar in the test tube with the baking soda then put the cork on. There was no set ammount of vinegar or baking soda so we had to figure it out. The ratio we used was 1 to 5. 1ml of baking soda for every 5ml of vinegar. Later on we also figured out that baking soda on the cork helps with the holes on the cork where the c02 gases can escape. We never hit the window but we tried if we had one more try we would have had it.
