Death star galaxy

No it is not from star wars but from a black hole that shot a jet of radiation and it hit another galaxy. This stream hit the lower part of a galaxy that was passing by. The stream is still not done. It is still moving and other galaxies are in its path. Scientists are calling this galactic bullying. The jet stream is predicted to be about one million light years old. The stream can still go on for another 10 to 100 million light years. Don't worry the earth is not in the way of this deadly jet stream of radiation.

Class responce #2

Today in class we made goop out of cornstarch, water, and food coloring. We did this because we had to see the plasticity of the earth’s mantle. At first it was hard to mix because the mixture was not right. When the mixture was right the ingredients turned into the goop. The goop was a liquid when it was not touched but when pressure is applied the liquid turns solid but only for a second.

Class Responce

In class we made roller coasters with paper towel rolls, egg cartons, tape, cardboard, boxes, toothpicks, a marble, and paper. The roller coaster had to have a feature like a loop or a curve. It also had to have 4 hills. We also had a choice to make a skate park. We had to make the skate park out of the same materials as the roller coaster. The skate park had to make the marble flow through three consecutive obstacles. You have to buy your supplies with omega money and we could earn omega money by doing homework helping other teachers or wearing the color of the day. Our roller coaster worked but only once in a while.

Hottest Planet Yet

This new planet that they found orbiting a star in the constellation Hercules may be the hottest planet yet. It is a gas planet and it is dense. The temperature of this planet is an astounding 3,700 degrees Fahrenheit. The planet is black and has a red spot in the center facing towards the sun.This happens because the planet absorbs most of the light that shines on it. The planet is about 279 light years-away.That's alot because one light-year is about 6 trillion Miles.For more information go to

Scientists have unraveled the DNA for a monkey called the rhesus macaque. The monkey will help test medicines and help us understand diseases like AIDS.The scientists have discovered that some of the rhesus macaque have diseases like AIDS but they are normal.This monkey is the third primate species to have it's genome completed. Humans and monkeys have highly similar DNA. Humans and the macaque share 93 percent of DNA. Even though the macaque share most if our DNA they still have some differences. Satellite or Fireball?

SANTIAGO, Chile - Pilots of an air craft going to Auckland airport in New Zealand and they said that a piece of flaming space debris flying pass their jet. The pilots said that they saw the debris flying a few kilometers away from their jet. The Russians warned the plane that pieces of their satellite would be coming into orbit but they miscalculated when it would happen. For more information go to

In class we separated DNA from strawberries peas and onions.The DNA looked like a long strand of white hair. The strawberry had the DNA that was the most visible.The DNA was wet and slimy it looked like clumps at first. DNA is like instructions for your body it tells your body how to build your brains or your bones or to put your skin in the right place. DNA is also in the shape of a double helix. Global warming is destroying Australia. Scientists have predicted that in 2070 that Australia will be so hot that it will be in a permanent state of drought.This is what people in Australia are calling the doomsday scenario. Also the global warming will cause higher tidal waves and a higher rate of deadly brush fires. The ozone layer over new Zealand has a huge hole in it so the rays of light are stronger in that area of the world. This is a big wake up call of people around the world. For the genetics assessment the class got topics and i got stem cells so here is some information about them. Stem cell have the ability to change into any other cell in the body like a blood cell or a brain cell. Stem cells are almost like a repair system for the body. As long the person or animal is alive the stem cells will keep dividing. Stem cells can also be used to help cure deadly diseases like Parkinson's disease and diabetes. The worlds smallest fish was discovered in Indonesia in an acid swamp. The fish also known as the paedocypris at full maturity is only 7.9mm. They eat plankton and don't have the same traits as an adult fish.The fish are very durable, they live in acid,and live throughout long droughts. This amazing fish also has grasping fins so they can grab items. The fish are dieing and the discovery might have saved there lives.

scientists in Beijing china say that they can control the flight of pigeons.This is done by implanting micro electrodes in to their brains. This lets them control the pigeon's flight pattern. The electrodes stimulate certain areas of the brain to force the pigeons to move the way they want to.This is the first successful experiment on pigeons in the world. This is a great breakthrough but the scientists still don't know what they are going to do with the pigeons yet. They hope to put the new technology to use in the future.For more information go to
